15 + Acres, Remote Forested Land w/cave

If you are looking for a beautiful, remote (but easily accessable) piece of land to call home, or as a weekend getaway, this may be for you.

This property is 15+ acres of beautiful forested land located in western New Mexico, far from the everyday hustle and bustle of the modern day world…the ultimate escape/retreat. Situated adjacent to BLM controlled land, the entire western boundary is virtually guaranteed to be as for many years to come…thousands of acres of wide open spaces…as far as the eye can see.

Location: Cibola County, New Mexico. Approximately 65 miles SW of Grants, NM - 75 miles SE of Gallup, NM. It is 20 miles SW from El Morro Natl. Monument, between Ramah Navajo, and Zuni Indian Reservations...135 mi West of Albuquerque.

Land description: The elevation at the highest point is approx. 7,300’. It is very hilly with lots of trees. This is “transitional zone”, juniper, gamble oak, pinon, and ponderosa pine. There are several rock outcrops located on the property, as well as some fantastic views. One of the primary features is a very large southern exposure, giving the potential for many solar applications

Improvements: The entire property is fenced, (solar electric). There is a well, (also solar) 220’ deep, good water. There is a redwood deck with built-in wood fired tub, (great for late night stargazing). There is underground telephone cable, and grid power available, (power pole on one corner of the property.)

The foremost improvement or feature would be the “cave”. This is an underground excavation which is carved out of the main rock outcrop, (a large sandstone formation). This was intended as a dwelling, but was never completed. The opening is over 7’ high and approximately 4’wide. It is stepped up about 4’ and is approx 30’ deep. The frontal exposure is southeastern, and catches the earliest morning sunshine. The possibilities for passive solar gain, as well as focusing light into the chamber are excellent. The view from here looks out over the valley below to an adjacent hill, (very nice). The view from the top of the outcrop is the vastness of the west as far as the eye can see, also a great place for wind energy.

For the right person, this is an absolute “dream property”…possibly that’s you, (?).

Annual property taxes for the year 2009 were $173.00.

Included in the price of the property are many extras, including a temporary (?) dwelling, storage shed, 32'X72' steel building (not erected), tools & equipt, and more...

Asking price is $85, 000 with the possibility of a partial trade.

If this sounds appealing to you, email me with any questions you may have, and please include your phone #, (I would much prefer to speak with you, as opposed to email, as I find myself spending way too much time on the computer answering questions, when a conversation would be much more expeditious).

Please include the word "Caveman" in your response, so as to eliminate all of the spammers out there. Thanks.
