I am a Traditional/Classical fencer and fencing instructor. I have been fencing since 2000, and teaching since 2006. I am a board-certified Provost at Arms, certified by the Sonoma State University Fencing Master's Program (the Masters on my board were Dr. John Sullins, Frank Lurz, Puck Curtis, Eric Myers, Dr. Greg Hicks, and David Coblentz, if that means anything to you). If you like swords, if you like the history of swords and fencing, if you want to learn how to use a sword properly, if you want to be a part of a western martial arts tradition that goes back for centuries, then Traditional/Classical fencing is for you; that's what this is really, a martial art...not a sport.
I teach classical Italian versions of foil, epee, and sabre. I also teach traditional weapons like the smarra (traditional Italian dueling sword, which was used before the epee and foil), and real (or heavy) sabre, as well as some rapier.
I run a classical Italian fencing school, Red Sun Classical Fencing, located within Duke City Fencing, 2840 Girard Blvd NE, Albuquerque NM 87107. Classes are run weekly every Tuesday, Thursday and Sunday 7:30pm-9:30pm.
