Seth Thomas 4-bell Sonora chime clock, model #5, circa 1914. Westminster quarter chime played on four patented resonating bells - the bells and hammers create the Westminster chime sequence featuring four notes on the quarter hour, eight notes on the half hour, twelve notes on the three quarter hour, and 16 notes followed by the appropriate number of strikes on the hour.. The wooden case is finished with a mahogany colored Adamantine veneer - a veneer patented in 1880 and used by Seth Thomas until 1917. It has a 5-inch silvered dial protected by a bezel with convex glass. Gold-colored sash, mat and feet. Height is about 14 inches, width 11 1/2 inches, and the depth 7 inches. There are two 8-day movements - one for time and strike, and one for the chimes only). It comes with a double sided key – one side for winding all three mainsprings (powering the pendulum, quarter hour chimes and hourly strikes) and the other smaller side for adjusting clock speed (one direction for faster and the other for slower). A lever on the side of the clock allows for silencing the chimes. Instruction label on the inside back cover is still intact.
Both movements have been overhauled - taken apart, each part cleaned, worn bushings repaired, reassembled, freshly lubricated, and adjusted. They will provide many years of reliable service.
If you like the Westminster tune played on bells, then this is the clock for you!
