Large Folio Size Antique c.1890 (or earlier) Secret Multiple Book Safe Tantalus. Containing (2) Crystal Decanters and (4) Crystal Glasses. This Rare Set is Complete!! Callows of Mount Steet, Mayfair, London was a prestigious luxury goods retailer located in the heart of Mayfair, London, primarily active from the late 19th century through the mid-20th century.
The firm, often trading as Thomas Callow & Son, was established in 1841. ROYAL CONNECTION: By 1879, they were recognized as the official Royal Whip Maker, a testament to their high standing among the British elite. They were a Luxury Retailer renowned for their discerning eye for Luxury and Quality.
The shop was a destination for high-end personal accessories and "gentlemen's" luxury items, many of which are now highly sought-after collectibles. Silverware: Fine silver clocks, scent bottles, and dressing-table sets. Clocks: They retailed unique timepieces, including travel clocks with inset gems and miniature longcase clocks in Chinoiserie styles.
