Position: Baker
For over 30 years, Flying Star has made bakery desserts the old-fashioned way—from scratch and by hand. We are looking for an experienced baker to join our high-volume production team in our local commercial kitchen and bakery. 🥧 Job Duties
Prepare bakery items following Flying Star recipes, quality standards, and sanitation guidelines
Accurately weigh, measure, and portion ingredients
Maintain established par levels (including frozen pars)
Prep pans, load/unload ovens, and fill racks for storage or transport
Label, store, rotate, and inspect products using FIFO standards
Slice, pack, and prep items for future use
Monitor inventory and notify management when stock runs low
Follow production sheets and minimize waste
Maintain product quality, safety, dating, rotation, and shelf-life standards
Participate in daily cleaning and report equipment or facility issues
Perform other duties as assigned
💪 Physical Requirements
Extensive standing for long periods
Exposure to heat, steam, smoke, and cold
Reaching up to 6 ft. and into depths of 2.5–3 ft.
High mobility and flexibility for 8+ hour shifts
Carrying trays up to 20 lbs. for distances up to 60 ft.
Lifting up to 50 lbs.
Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-stress environment
🧠 Knowledge & Skills
1–3 years of baking experience and/or high-volume commercial kitchen experience
Strong attention to detail and time management
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Organized, reliable, and able to problem-solve effectively
Ability to work well with all levels of the organization
Bilingual Spanish / Kitchen Spanish preferred
