Rheas make excellent pets. They are great animals for predator protection and weed control. They'll clear your property of stickers and goatheads. They are browsers, easy on your land, used to small pens (less than 1 acre), and perfect for any size yard. They will kick and chase away predators like skunks, coyotes, racoons, foxes, and even hawks. They're also calm and easy to herd and manage compared to other ratites like emus and ostriches. They get along well with other farm animals and are non-aggressive towards people. They eat the same feed as chickens, too, so they're easy to maintain.
