Up for sale is a beautiful, historic mid-century blackware wedding vase attributed to renowned Santa Clara Pueblo potter Pasqualita Tafoya (1883–1959).
Pasqualita was a historic matriarch of Tewa pottery, and her work is highly collectible. This classic double-spouted wedding vase features a stunning, hand-burnished metallic black finish with deeply carved traditional mountain and stepped kiva motifs.
Dimensions: Stands approximately 9" tall to the top of the twisted bridge handle, and is roughly 7.5" wide across the spouts.
Markings: Faintly incised on the unpolished base.
Condition: PLEASE NOTE. There is a notable structural hairline crack wrapping around the neck of one spout (clearly shown in the photos). The piece is still structurally intact and is being sold As-Is, which is reflected in the discounted price.
This is a rare opportunity to own a piece of Southwest art history by a highly regarded Pueblo matriarch at a fraction of gallery cost. Perfect for a collector who appreciates the history and doesn't mind the character of an older, authentic piece.
