Seeking one experienced full time live-in Farm worker on a small farm in NW Albuquerque.
Wanting a nice person with a minimum of drama, a healthy eater, a decent communicator, dependable, reliable, responsible, Honest, considerate, capable of empathy, has a good attitude and good health, valid humor and an individual who Wants to work on a Farm. Experience with small farm operations is required, but learning is an ongoing process.
The following duties would be done as directed by the aged Farm owner/manager: Plan spring and fall plantings; estimate harvest crops and times; Coordinate sprouting, planting, watering, weeding, compost, worms, trimming, pest control; harvesting; chicken care; sell fresh food at local Farmers Markets; summarize and report on sales and expenses. Coordinate efforts of other Farm helpers. Applicant should be able to lift 40 lbs, operate small power equipment, and be computer literate. A two month trial period will let us see if expectations are mutual. A long term gig is preferred.
Hours per week will vary depending on the season, the weather, assigned duties, and your availability are 20 to 50 hours per week. If hourly, wage for Farm work will range from 12 to 18, depending on experience, attitude and speed. Otherwise onsite living quarters included for the non-hourly Farm manager is a 1-BR small detached casita, (which usually rents for $1000/mo) is available for a sharecropper barter. [Sharecropper: a tenant farmer who is provided with credit for seed, tools, living quarters, and food, who works the land, and who receives an agreed share of the value of the crop minus charges]. A winter off-season stipend can be negotiated.
