In 1991 Steinway introduced the Boston line of pianos for pianists seeking high performance at a more affordable price than the New York handmade instruments. They partnered with the Japanese builder Kawai, who could produce less expensive pianos to Steinway’s specific scale designs.
The UP118 is a solid, reliable, professional 45” studio intended for workhorse duty in the most rigorous music institutions around the world — where you find Steinway, you will also find Boston.
The 118S model is housed in the classic institutional cabinet: a shelf-style music holder with slanted front panel for displaying multiple pages, a matte red oak veneer that does not show fingerprints, top and fallboard locks for security, heavy-duty toe mounted double casters for easy moving and positioning.
This piano was maintained in very good condition by its original owners and is well suited for a beginner to advanced pianist, a teacher, church, school, etc.
