Instead of another year of complaints about “The Flipper,” the Remo 30" drum head posts, or the never-ending (valid) listings, maybe we can all agree to focus on flagging the items that clearly do not belong in Musical Instruments?
The Musical Instruments section should be for actual instruments, instrument gear, recording gear, amps, pedals, parts, cases, and related music equipment - not random household electronics, car parts, lamps, or (by owner) commercial services.
Current examples of items that should probably be flagged as non-musical-instrument listings:
DJ mixer: American Audio Proformer Plus DJ mixer
Consumer bookshelf speakers: B&W DM601, JBL E20, Vintage Realistic Nova 6 speakers
Consumer earbuds: BRAND NEW Beats by Dré Studio wireless earbuds
Computer desktop speakers: Harman Kardon Soundsticks speaker set
DJ CDJ / controller rig: Numark NS7II DJ rig in Odyssey road case
Consumer speakers: Sansui SP-30 speaker set
Cable amplifier: SVI Digital Subscriber Amplifier
DJ light: DJ Laser Light
Vintage computing: Apple iMac 2006 A1174 with Debian Linux install
Turntables: Vintage Garrard record player, Cambridge Audio Alva TT direct-drive turntable
Turntable parts: Technics SL-1200/1210 dust cover with hinges
TV accessories: Sony BRAVIA Theater Bar 8, Samsung HW-S60D 5.0 soundbar
Services: Personalized songs made from your story; large tank bells designed for any theme, sports, etc.
Car parts: Chevy rims
Home lighting: Rare Stiffel uplighter floor lamp, vintage 1940s–1950s, Chicago, IL
Not everything with a speaker, cable, light, or “audio” in the title belongs in Musical Instruments.
If people want a cleaner Musical Instruments section, let’s flag the obviously misplaced stuff instead of endlessly arguing about the same recurring drum head, preamp, and reseller posts.
