Here's a stunning, huge sounding custom Ford Drums kit in great shape. I've retired and recently moved to NM from Austin, TX. I have more drums than I'll ever need again so I'm downsizing. This kit has been my pride and joy for 15 years, looking for a good new home for her. You don't see drums like this every day.
Ford Drums built this kit for me in 2010. Sizes are 24x16, 13x8(!), and 18x16. It was one of the first custom color kits in their Maverick series. I asked them to emulate Slingerland's Sparkling Maroon Pearl finish and what they came up with blew me away. The textured finish reminds a lot of people of a pickup truck bed liner, though it's not that thick. The deep maroon finish has tiny silver flakes in it that really make the kit pop under lights. It's about the same thickness as a plastic wrap. The finish is very tough and shows very little wear. The shells are 10 ply maple. The inner surface of each drum is beautifully sealed and polished. All the lugs and hardware are attached with allen bolts. Lugs are Ford's own distinctive machined aluminum teardrop lugs with no springs inside to rattle.
I added Pearl mounts to the bass drum and mounted tom. The only holes drilled were for the three screws to hold the mounts. I did not drill large holes for the tom arm to pass thru the shells.
The drums and hardware are very clean with very minimal signs of plating loss on the hoops and minimal pitting, if any, on the lugs and other chrome parts. All heads are either new or in good shape. The kit is clean and ready to play. The only hardware included will be the floor tom legs and Pearl tom mount. I will also include several extra heads and a few spare parts. I have Enduro cases for the bass drum and floor tom available for an additional $125.
$1000 for everything, very reasonable for a high end custom-made instrument. . I accept Venmo, PayPal, Zelle, and cash. I live in a remote, hard to access area in the Edgewood/Moriarty area. Can meet anyone who's seriously interested in the drums somewhere in the East ABQ/Tijeras/Cedar Crest/Edgewood area.
