If you use a long telephoto lens for wildlife [or sports] a gimbal head is essential. I bought this to use with a heavy Canon 500mm f4 lens. However, as time has gone by I have moved to lighter gear and am not using this as much.
You will need a solid tripod, and an Arca-Swiss type mount for your lens. Bring both with you when you come to check it out.

It's a solid, heavy piece of gear. It does have a few chips but function remains 100%.
